An exclusive scholarship for BINUS University School of Computer Science alumni and students

Applied Cybersecurity with AI

A defensive cybersecurity program for people who already have an IT foundation. Built with BINUS Faculty and AWS.

  • 13-week program
  • Starts 22 October 2026
  • Live online

Why now

AI made attacks easier to run and harder to spot.

The code

45% of AI-written code arrives with a security flaw.

Half of professional developers now use AI every day, which leaves more openings for attackers to find.

Veracode GenAI Code Security Report, 2026

Stack Overflow Developer Survey, 2025

The attackers

89% more attacks were run with AI in 2025.

AI does the scouting and the scripting, so attackers can run far more attacks at once.

CrowdStrike Global Threat Report, 2026

The blind spot

82% of break-ins last year used no virus at all.

Nothing for antivirus to catch. The tools can flag it as unusual. Only a trained defender can call it an attack.

CrowdStrike Global Threat Report, 2026

This program builds the judgment defenders need.

You learn to detect real threats, analyse them, and know when the tools are wrong.

What makes this different

Practice skills with realistic labs used by modern security teams.

Most cybersecurity training never puts you on a real environment. This does.

AWS lab environments

You practice in an AWS environment

Three lab days with AWS security specialists: an alert queue with threats, an AWS network to map, and an AI security agent to configure and validate.

Academics and industry experts

Learn from academia and industry

BINUS faculty and working security experts teach across the program, from core concepts to real-world security operations.

AI built into the work

You learn to supervise AI

AI aids in the curriculum as a tool. You map alerts to MITRE ATT&CK, draft reports, run assessments, and verify output.

Defence-first by design

Built around defensive cybersecurity, where the work is

This program teaches the fundamental defensive skills, namely monitoring, threat detection and incident response, that almost every security team looks for.

Curriculum

Thirteen weeks. Five modules. Every one produces something you can show.

This defensive cybersecurity program combines two lectures and one applied workshop each week, with three AWS lab days across threat detection, incident response, cloud security, application security, and AI supervision.

~/revou/curriculum

13 weeks · 5 modules
Module 1 Foundations of Security Thinking Weeks 1–2

Build the defender's mindset before the tools. You separate security knowledge from security capability, map a real breach from vulnerability through to business consequence, and study the attack lifecycle as a lens for defence.

WHAT YOU'LL COVER

Capability vs. knowledge Business impact of a breach Risk-based prioritisation The attacker's perspective
You'll build: Security capability map
Module 2 Security Operations: Threat Detection, Triage & Incident Response Weeks 3–5

Work the SOC analyst's core loop: detect, triage and respond to alerts, then map your findings to MITRE ATT&CK.

WHAT YOU'LL COVER

Threat detection Alert triage Incident response MITRE ATT&CK mapping
You'll build: Escalation brief
Module 3 Network & Infrastructure Security Weeks 6–7

Map and defend network and cloud infrastructure. Segmentation, hardening and monitoring on an AWS-hosted environment.

WHAT YOU'LL COVER

Network segmentation Infrastructure hardening Monitoring & logging AWS cloud security
You'll build: Network control selection
Module 4 Application Security & AI Weeks 8–10

Find and fix vulnerabilities in modern, AI-assisted applications, and supervise AI security tooling end to end.

WHAT YOU'LL COVER

Application vulnerabilities Secure development AI-assisted apps Supervising AI tools
You'll build: Remediation brief
Module 5 Professional Readiness & Capstone Weeks 11–13

The final three weeks turn everything you have learned into something you can use. Two dedicated mentorship sessions help you design and rehearse your capstone. From there you map cybersecurity career paths in Indonesia and leave with a realistic 90-day plan, closing with a live portfolio presentation to a panel of industry practitioners.

WHAT YOU'LL COVER

Two mentorship sessions Indonesia market & pathways 90-day action plan Live portfolio presentation
You'll build: A working AI-assisted security tool (vibe coding)

Every module ends in a portfolio-ready artifact you can show an employer.

What you leave with

Work you can show.

Security capability has to be demonstrated. Every module produces something you can point to.

Five portfolio artifacts

A capability map, an escalation brief, a network control selection, a remediation brief, and a validated AI assessment.

A defended capstone

A working security tool you built and documented yourself, including a logged record of the AI mistakes you caught. Presented to a panel of industry experts, and questioned the way they would question a hire.

A hands-on AWS record

Three lab days in an AWS environment, including an autonomous AI security agent you configured and validated yourself.

A professional certificate, backed by academia and industry

Awarded on completion of your capstone and the program requirements, at the graduation ceremony on the BINUS Kemanggisan campus, which you can also attend online.

Certificate of Achievement from RevoU, BINUS University and GreatNusa

Who teaches you

Principles from academics. Judgment from industry experts.

Frameworks from BINUS faculty, real-world judgment from working defenders, and lab infrastructure from the AWS specialists who build it.

Frequently asked questions

About the scholarship

Who can get this scholarship?

Alumni from every graduating year and active students from every semester of BINUS University School of Computer Science.

Does the scholarship apply to later cohorts?

This scholarship is only for the first cohort, starting 22 October 2026.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Installment options are available for the Rp 9,900,000 scholarship price.

About the program

Do I need prior cybersecurity knowledge?

No. But you do need a technical foundation: comfort with basic IT, networking and command-line concepts. This program is an entry point into defensive security.

Is this an offensive security or ethical hacking class?

This is a defensive (Blue Team) cybersecurity program. You learn to detect, investigate and respond to cyber threats with the mindset real security teams use. Along the way you also learn how attackers work and the techniques they commonly use, so you can better recognise and counter them. The emphasis is on building defensive skills.

How much of it is about AI?

AI runs through the whole curriculum, both as a working tool and as something you learn to supervise: mapping alerts, drafting incident reports, running vulnerability assessments, and verifying AI output at every step.

Can I join while studying or working?

Yes. Live sessions run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings (19:30 to 21:30 WIB), and every session is recorded. The opening and graduation at BINUS Kemanggisan are optional and both can be joined online.

Do you place graduates in jobs?

We do not guarantee job placement. You leave with five portfolio artifacts, a professional certificate and a realistic 90-day plan. Together they are proof of operational capability you can take to the job market.

What happens in the AWS labs?

Over three lab days you apply defensive concepts in an AWS environment, accessed remotely from your own machine: working an alert queue with threats, mapping and monitoring an AWS network, and configuring and validating an AI security agent. The labs are designed and taught by AWS security specialists.

Do I get a BINUS certificate?

Yes. Participants who complete the capstone and all program requirements receive a professional certificate from RevoU, BINUS University and GreatNusa, awarded at the graduation ceremony on the BINUS Kemanggisan campus. If you cannot attend in person, you can join the graduation online.
