Beyond the Tools: Leaders Need a Framework to Align AI Innovation With Business Targets

IT Professional

For an experienced professional, understanding the technology is only half the battle. The harder part is executing it so it delivers real impact for the organisation without turning the workflow into a maze.

That was exactly Daffa Syammary’s experience. An IT background had made him familiar with artificial intelligence and automation long before. But one important gap remained: how to bridge the strategic needs of the business and the reality of shipping systems on the ground.

"My background is actually IT, so I have known AI and automation since last year. But from the IT side you get surprisingly little exposure to how automation and implementation actually work in industry. I was looking for a bridge between the business side and the IT side," Daffa says.

Looking for a programme that sold more than theory, Daffa enrolled in the ITB x RevoU collaboration: Data-Driven & AI Decision Making for Leaders.

So how did Daffa use that mix of academic insight and industry practice to tidy up technology execution in his organisation? Here is his story.

Bridging Business and IT Through an Academic-Practitioner Collaboration

Familiar as he was with the technology landscape, Daffa needed a framework that would help him see the bigger picture of how it applies in real working environments.

"What I was after was not the theory but how it is actually implemented in industry. In this programme I could see ITB on the academic side and RevoU on the industry practitioner side. Once I looked at the curriculum and found the material compelling, I decided to join straight away rather than put it off," Daffa says.

The synergy between ITB’s academic depth and the practical expertise of RevoU’s professionals was reason enough for Daffa to invest in himself immediately.

The Biggest Value: Turning Plans Into Structured Execution

At many companies, failed adoption of new technology is rarely down to poor planning. The problem is almost always execution — too many stakeholders weighing in until decisions stop being clean. For Daffa, the biggest insight from the programme went well beyond using AI tools.

"In organisations the plan is often solid, but at implementation too many people join in on the decisions, so delivery gets messy. This programme helped me see how to organise the execution process, data management, and implementation so it holds together. And that approach applies to IT implementation as a whole," Daffa explains.

Through the data management and execution frameworks he studied, Daffa now has clear guidance for keeping technology implementation aligned with where the business is heading.

An Efficiency Play: Combining Personal Tools With the Learning System

As a professional with an appetite for efficiency, Daffa took a tactical approach to each milestone and to the capstone project.

To test ideas and draft an initial framework with room to move, he would work with his own AI tooling first. Once the concept had taken shape, he validated the work in the Learning Hub to get more formal feedback on its structure.

The approach let him keep moving quickly without drifting from the academic and industry standards ITB and RevoU set.

A Lesson for Organisations: Success Lives in the Whole Execution Picture

For managers and practitioners looking to bring AI into their team’s operations, Daffa stresses the value of understanding real implementation examples — base scenarios — over memorising technical theory.

For Daffa Syammary, the ITB x RevoU programme was not just somewhere to refresh his technical knowledge. It was a strategic bridge that helped him turn IT complexity into business decisions that are clean, measurable, and on target.
